Questions

Common questions

When should I use a VM instead of a container?
When you need a full operating system: to install system packages by hand, run software that expects its own machine, or keep a long-lived server you log in to.
Can I reach it from the internet?
Yes. Open port 22 under Networking to get a public port, and limit it to the IP addresses you trust.
What happens to my files if it stops?
They stay on the boot disk. The disk is kept, and billed, until you delete the machine.
Is it ready for production?
Virtual machines are in beta. They work, but features and limits may change.
